When it activates

Scoring
MAP = (SBP + 2×DBP) / 3
MAP = (Systolic blood pressure in mmHg + 2 × Diastolic blood pressure in mmHg) / 3
Interpretation
Normal MAP: 70–100 mmHg. Target MAP ≥65 mmHg for sepsis/shock (Surviving Sepsis). MAP ≥80 mmHg may be needed for chronic hypertensives. Cerebral perfusion pressure = MAP − ICP (target CPP >60). MAP <60: risk of organ hypoperfusion.
