Interpretation

Score <20: Low mortality risk (<5%). Score 20-39: Moderate mortality risk (~10-20%). Score >=40: High mortality risk (>30%). Score >60: Very high mortality risk (>50%). Useful for benchmarking NICU outcomes, family counseling, and resource allocation. Validated across gestational ages. Best calculated within first 12 hours of NICU admission. Higher discrimination for mortality than CRIB in some populations.
