When it activates
Scribeable activates a calculator from the encounter. The Glasgow Alcoholic Hepatitis Score can activate when the transcript or pasted chart context documents any of these:
- Alcoholic hepatitis severity assessment (alternative to Maddrey)
- Corticosteroid candidacy when Maddrey borderline
- Combined Maddrey + GAHS stratification
A coded diagnosis can also activate it. ICD-10 prefixes carried by the registry: K70.1, K70.4.
Note-type scope: it activates on notes whose subject resolves to hepatology, gi, hospital medicine, critical care. A note that resolves to another subject does not carry it even when the clinician's specialty matches; a note with no resolvable subject (a generic consultation) falls back to the specialty match.

5 variables, each scored 1-3 points. Age <50 (1) / >=50 (2). WBC <15 (1) / >=15 (2). BUN <14 mg/dL (1) / >=14 (2). PT ratio <1.5 (1) / 1.5-2.0 (2) / >2.0 (3). Bilirubin <7.3 mg/dL (1) / 7.3-14.6 (2) / >14.6 (3). Total 5-12.
Interpretation
<9: Good prognosis (~87% 28-day survival without steroids). >=9: Poor prognosis (~46% 28-day survival without steroids, improves to ~78% with steroids). GAHS >=9 combined with Maddrey >=32 has best discriminative value for steroid benefit.
