01Overview

Scribeable works alongside Epic to streamline your clinical documentation. Support depends on which Epic client your organization deploys:

  • Epic Hyperdrive (modern web client) — best-effort direct insertion into note fields
  • Epic Hyperspace (Citrix/VMware desktop) — section-by-section clipboard workflow with paste guidance
  • Epic MyChart — detection only; MyChart is the patient portal and has no provider-facing note fields
  • Compatible with Epic Smart Phrases and templates when pasted

02How It Works

Your workflow with Scribeable and Epic:

  1. Record your patient encounter using the Scribeable app
  2. AI generates a complete clinical note in under 60 seconds
  3. Review and edit the note in the app
  4. Open the patient's chart in Epic
  5. Use the browser extension to insert the note, or copy and paste

Notes are formatted to work with your existing Epic documentation templates. Smart Phrase formatting is preserved when you paste.

03Browser Extension Setup

For the smoothest Epic workflow, install the Scribeable Chrome extension:

  1. Install the Scribeable extension from the Chrome Web Store
  2. Sign in with your Scribeable account
  3. Navigate to a patient's chart in Epic Hyperdrive (web)
  4. Click the Scribeable extension icon to insert your latest note

Running Hyperspace in Citrix? That's most Epic deployments today. The extension auto-detects the Citrix session and routes you through a guided section-by-section clipboard workflow — no DOM access is possible in pixel-streamed environments. If your organization offers both clients, Hyperdrive gets the smoother flow.

04Troubleshooting

Common issues and solutions:

  • Extension not detecting fields: Make sure you're in an editable text area in Epic. Click into the note field first, then use the extension.
  • Formatting issues: Try pasting as plain text (Ctrl+Shift+V) if formatting looks off in Epic.
  • Extension not showing notes: Verify you're signed into the extension with the same account as the app.
  • Smart Phrases not expanding: Paste the note first, then trigger Smart Phrase expansion in Epic as usual.

05Coming Soon: Direct Epic Integration

We're developing direct SMART on FHIR integration with Epic for enterprise customers. This will enable:

  • Pull patient context before recording
  • Insert notes into Epic note fields with the browser extension
  • Automatic encounter matching
