Why I Built Scribeable: A Physician's Mission to Solve Documentation Burnout

During my medical training, I watched an attending physician sit in the call room at 11 PM, still charting from clinic hours earlier. She had three young kids at home. This wasn't unusual—it was the norm. And it was completely broken.

I interviewed dozens of physicians during the development of Scribeable. Every single one described the same struggle: the EHR had stolen their time, their energy, and sometimes their love of medicine.

The Documentation Trap

The stories I heard were remarkably consistent. Two hours of "pajama time" every night. Working through lunch. Checking the inbox on weekends. Missing family activities because of "catching up on charts." Physicians had normalized the unsustainable.

But it doesn't have to be this way. Something is broken—not with physicians, but with the system that turned healers into data entry clerks.

Finding a Better Way

I started exploring AI documentation tools but found them frustrating. Some were inaccurate. Others were clearly built by engineers who'd never seen a patient. Many felt like they'd add complexity rather than reduce it.

So I decided to build what physicians told me they wished existed: an AI scribe that actually understood clinical workflow, designed by a physician for physicians.
